The Denver area has a lot of Canadian Geese.  I didn’t expect that when we first moved here, some live here year round in our mostly moderate weather and some make this the southern stop on their migration.  There are several parks in the greater Denver area with lovely lakes and expanses of grass which equals perfect goose habitat ( Read more... )

LOL. We raised geese and the domestics are the same way, probably more aggressive! We had a watch goose! And goose poop is THE slipperiest!

Huh, I've never met a domestic goose. I completely get an animal being protective of its young but it was freaky to be chased.

Yes, of all the things I've run through on trails goose poop wins. At our current place the local park department sends a sweeper thing through every few days, I'm incredibly grateful.

You're the first person I know who has actually been attacked by these geese, but the threat is clearly always there. And they are _big_.

Sadly, while beautiful, they spoil most parks and golf courses now...

Yeah, it was freaky. I was mostly afraid that other geese were going to join in.

Denver is working on a goose abatement program, I'm not sure how that's going to work but all the local parks have colonies now.

We do have goose poop at our apartment complex but nothing near what you have in that park!

Part of the issue is the sidewalks on the lake side of the park are old-school slate - which are really cool and not something that can be cleaned in any mechanical way so it just stayed, and layered.

I love your take on the prompt especially the bit where you're the victim of a literal wild goose chase.

Kudos!

Thanks! This came to mind almost immediately and I haven't done as much non-fiction lately so I decided to work from life for a while.

I love this little piece of wildlife at the park! (So glad you didn't get mowed down by an angry goose!)

As thanks! I know take a wide berth around any geese during gosling season.
