Oh, my heart breaks a little more each chapter I read. The intolerable pressure that Jim's under makes me ache and for it to flare up with Spock shows just how bad that is. He's doing an incredible job of holding it together and I want to strangle Sextus for refusing to understand. At first I thought that maybe it was a cultural thing and he didn't get the whole 'forced captivity is bad' thing, but now I know that other Pingians do realise that this is making them unhappy and might be willing to help, any sympathy I was willing to extend to Sextus has gone. And what he did in the end... I am not having charitable thoughts about him. Not at all

This fic slays me because it's so deeply complex that you can never truly hate or love characters because of the depth you put into each one. Poor, poor Jim and I really can't wait to see what will happen.

Oh my goodness! Sextus makes me so extremely angry. He is so certain that Jim will eventually come around, and he ignores Jim's point that the humans were forced into marriage against their will. Makes me think Sextus is a complete thick-headed moron even though he is probably smarter than he lets on. ARGH! Looks like Jim got the short stick because the other Pingians seem to be more respectful to their Federation husbands than Sextus is to Jim. I really hope some of the Pingians help our heroes escape because it seems hopeless without them. I'm really scared for Spock, because if Sextus finds out the depth of Jim's feelings for Spock, he could be missing a few limbs.I hope Jim didn't say Spock's name while he was in the throes of forced pleasure.
