Boo, the listing for the localization editor for Nintendo of America has been taken down. I had submitted a resume, but it wasn't as good as it could have been, and I wasn't as active as I might have been about following up ( Read more... )

Good luck with the Nintendo job! I hope you get it. That could be awesome.

I gather from your post that you're fairly attached to the DC area, and I don't blame you. It's tough when you have friends, and a life, in a given place and you don't want to leave that.

However, if you are considering jobs in New York, there is an opening here at Japan Society. They're looking for a Corporate Development Associate, in other words, someone to help run the Corporate Memberships section. It's a lot of, y'know, officework, paperwork, corporate type stuff, so, not quite the same as translating anime or something fun and colorful like that, but it's Japan Society, so you get to use your language skills, and etc.

Whatever you end up doing, good luck!! Ganbatte!

To #1 - this is very true. Though like the fruits and flowers, getting a good position is often sensitive to time as well as your own persistence. Meaning both that it can take time for a good position to come into the market and to be patient, and also that once something good does come along, get on it ASAP. Though I'm sure you knew that!

To #2 - when I went a-hunting a couple years back, I pretty much had to resign myself to leaving the area I was in, but setting my mind to see the positives of that really helped me get used to the idea. Let the idea settle in and become an opportunity, and it'll be way cool.

Also, there's a video game company upstairs from my office here in GB! *wink wink* Just kidding. You want a better dating pool, GB is not really the place to be for us nerds, though this is more the case for dudes than the ladies.
