Unfortunately there are just times when we have to do the stupid thing and come to the same conclusion after much trial and error.

It took me three times w/ Chris. Now I know better, am much wiser and I am in a wonderful, caring and full relationship to a great partner.

I'm so sorry to hear this - it's really very scary, because abusive people (practicing any kind of abuse, not just physical) rarely change without intensive counseling, and a significant life change, often including giving up alcohol or other substances that contribute to their issues...

and I'm especially sorry that she's choosing to try expose her child to this - even if that baby is never the target, s/he will grow up learning that as a kind of "normal", and has a terribly high probability of repeating the pattern in their own life.

but you're right - you can't live their lives for them. unfortunately.
