Actually, I pride myself on having fired very few people and running a very clean organization. My sister and I both believe the company has to work for the customers and the employees or it fails.

My father was very adamant on that point. He felt that a CEO had to have compassion for the employees. If he did not, he would only end up with unhappy people who would be quite happy to stab him in the back. It was why he had me start at the bottom of the company.
