It's been a busy week here at the hobbit hole. But the biggest news is that my adorable genius grandbaby -- not quite 17 months old now, mind you -- has expanded his vocabulary to include "helicopter" and "umbrella" and "purple". Gosh! Seventeen months already?

Oh - and thank you so much for the cranberry slaw recipe - I must try it at Christmas when my daughter is home, she'll love it.

No, silly person! Tatties and neaps (note the correct spelling), are a traditional Scottish recipe -- slightly older than haggis.

In plain American English, it's potatoes and rutabaga and/or turnips, all mashed together with garlic and pepper. Tatties and neaps are great with butter or with gravy, and make terrific potato pancakes on the morning after.
