LaS: Ozai & Lu Ten & Ketu, why Zolena refers to Ketu as "Ozai's rogue air nomad"beckyh2112July 22 2010, 16:39:15 UTC
The Dragon of the West stood hip-deep in swamp-muck, cesti covered in blood and red-scale tabard bedraggled. He breathed, listening to the swish of water against tree roots and worse things.
There was a strange slant of light that looked almost like an Air Nomad. The light rested on a tree branch above him, turned away from Ozai, orange robes rippling in a non-existent breeze, shadow-hair lying in a long tail over the arrow tattoos.
"I don't know this man," Ozai said, and the Water Tribesman in his hand gurgled.
The swamp rustled and shifted. He almost imagined it said you will.
"I'm lost," he added.
More than you can imagine.
"No. In this swamp."
Can't help with that.Ozai nodded. Swamps didn't seem like they would understand the concept of lost very well. Well, he'd have to handle this himself then

... Ozai, you're talking to a swamp. A swamp that shows the future/the past, yes, but still. Also, when that same swamp responds and pretty much says you need therapy? You need therapy, whether or not the swamp is actually responding or not.
By your heading, I take it Lu Ten's around? Or is there more to this excerpt than Ozai in the swamp killing Water Tribesman (out of curiosity, is this a local like in the episode The Swamp or a member of either the Northern or Southern tribes that was in the swamp for some reason)?
The last line intrigues me, if only because it implies a debt between Ozai and Ketu. In your other LaS fics, I was always interested in how Ozai only seemed to indicate any real closeness with three people: Lu Ten, Ursa, and... a random rogue Air Nomad. So this is cool.

Lots and lots of therapy.
Lu Ten is around. >_> I originally meant to do something completely different and forgot to change the header. Northern or Southern waterbender, not one of the locals. Though we will be seeing more of the locals whenever I get around to writing more of LaS!
Ozai and Iroh, a storm in someone else's teacupbeckyh2112July 23 2010, 00:44:30 UTC
The little prince is positively skipping. He beams at the world, all of eleven and tossing a ball of blue fire back and forth in his hands.
"Did you hear him?" He asks for the tenth time, grinning up at his older brother. "Father said I was doing well in my firebending!"
"He did," Iroh says in distraction, his mind on the reports from the front. As skillful as Ozai was becoming, it was nothing to merit such excitement from the princeling. "Settle down, Ozai. You're distracting me."
"But Father said-"
"Father says noble children are doing well in their firebending all the time in formal court, Ozai. It's part of the ritual."
Ever after, Iroh cannot understand what inspired the shriek of rage from his little brother, or why Ozai hurled his ball of blue fire at Iroh's head.

Iroh hasn't quite twigged to the fact that his Da doesn't like Ozai much. He doesn't see why Ozai is getting so excited over court-ritual. *cuddles little 'Zai*
Engaged!Ozai, a date at the Ember Island Playersbeckyh2112July 23 2010, 01:42:21 UTC
This is crack.
"This is dull," Ozai said quietly, glaring at the stage. On it, the Ember Island Players ran through an entirely lackluster (in his opinion) performance of "Seven Sails From the South".
Li and Lo didn't like the Ember Island Players. His caretakers thought they were too- He wrinkled his nose. Too traditional. They'd taken him to see troupes like Jaraka's Thieves and Ponydog Shows. Good troupes, troupes willing to take risks with how they put on a show.
Ursa frowned at him. "You're the one who wanted to go to the theater!"
"Jaraka's Thieves are on the island," he hissed back. "I was going to take you there before your mother intervened!"
"Oh yes, as if Mother was going to give you half a chance to deflower me before the wedding." Ursa rolled her eyes. "She's not letting this chance slip through her fingers, Prince Ozai

When Aang took Ozai's 'bending, he also took something elsebeckyh2112July 23 2010, 02:11:18 UTC
After the Comet left, Ozai crashed to the ground. He seemed dazed, eyes glazed over, skin sweaty and clammy. Sokka might have been worried, if it was anyone other than the freaking Firelord.
Aang nudged Ozai gently with his foot. "Hm."
"Something on your mind?" Sokka asked.
Aang shook his head. "We should deliver him to- Zuko? Zuko."
He sounded tired, more tired than Sokka had ever heard before. 'Course, the kid had just fought the Firelord across earth and sky, so Sokka figured he had all the rights to be tired. Talking a little funny, too, but it was probably bleed-through from calling on all of his Avatar powers.

Ozai didn't wake up. That upset Zuko, but frankly Sokka didn't understand why the jerkbender wasn't happy his abusive daddy wasn't conscious for the coronation.
Aang was in a weird mood. He wandered around the Fire Palace, poking at rooms and getting chased out by guards. He was quiet, almost subdued, and sometimes he- Well, Sokka wasn't entirely sure he liked what was going on with the coronation and all

...Either Aang absorbed Ozai's personality and he's now half Aang, half Ozai, or Ozai took over completely and has access to some of Aang's memories. Either way... heheheh, I don't know what Iroh knows, but no one's going to know how to deal with this.

I am still reeling for the fact that I got to give two prompts. ^^
This is...exactly I didn't think you would do. But it's amazing how you always manage to surprise me and make me love these drabbles. Deliciously creepy and addicting, I just keep on reading this over and over again, so I get all the little things. Purr...
