It makes sense to me. They still feel like the same characters even though events have shaped them differently, right?
That's pretty much been my goal with this. An evil, insane Katara should still come across as Katara underneath all of everything else, and even as the Crown Prince of the aggressor nation, Sokka should still be Sokka. Otherwise, I'm just writing original fiction in a way that won't get me paid.
Oh, Ursa. I actually forgot the line about you being a master firebender at the beginning, what with you being so sweet with Ozai and everything, and then you are going to kill the guy who takes advantage of Ozai's ingrained compliance. And it will be awesome. I can see why he got so attached to her. Thanks for writing this.

Ursa totally kicks ass. And I don't care if the show never actually uses the Agni Kai as trial-by-combat, it is totally one for me.
