I don't think I can say enough how much I like the teeny details in this fic, especially the ones indicating that there is more to the background than there is at first glance. However, I am feeling lazy, so I will just list.

1) The whole war-child conversation. Even if there is No War In Ba Sing Se, there are still ways to call attention to the fact that people would notice the Fire blood.

2) The longing for the forest/trees. <3 I'm pretty sure all three of them are feeling the hit, though Ichiro most of all.

3) The differences between Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom morals.

4) Kouji's difficulties learning Earth-style bending.

5) The firefly song! <33333

6) Yui being so thrilled that Ichi-ni has a boyfriend and Kouji not liking Liu. <3 They're twins, but they're obviously different people and you capture it well with those details
