He was coming home, and he was bringing Lu Ten with him.
Ursa smiled as her maids dress her. She wore one of her party corsets today, though the dress was fancy court. It was oddly alluring, the way it shaped her body in red and gold.
She wore only a touch of paint to darken her lashes. A faint gold dust sparkled around her eyes. Hairsticks, decorated with falls of red jade beads, pinned her hair in place. Two small pins decorated with kanzashi in the form of fire lilies graced the front of her hair. It was almost a vulgar display of jewelry.
But Ozai was returning today, and no one would fault her.

There's an ancient statue to the last Earth Avatar in the town. But it is faded and nearly unrecognizable if you don't know what you're looking for.
The best thing I did on this island was sneak off with Lu Ten amid a grove of red-blazing trees. I pushed him up against the trunk of a tree and unbelted him. You should have seen his face when I dropped to my knees. You should have heard him when I took him in my mouth.
