Lynne's son Jess made those potholders. In fact, I loved the ones he made as a boy so much that he's made some as an adult, too, for his mama and me. I'll take 'em anytime!

And thank you for loving the poem. =)

Cornbread should NEVER have sugar in it!

THANK you.

Let me know how it turns out. My desire for chili is a rather recent development. I think I only eat it because Timmy F taught me I could put sour cream on it. Sour cream is my true addiction. And cornbread is a bonus!

I made some red beans and rice last night, too.... without the cornbread (although we always ate the sweet Jiffy-mix kind, but I can do without all that sugar).

That's chili in my skillet. (Which is actually Tim's skillet, but I never gave it back after I told him I'd season it for him.)

I'm not a red beans and rice eater, which is apparently tragic to certain people I know. My chili is super easy and uses turkey, so it's healthy. Well, healthier. Plus I think I only eat it so I'll have an excuse to dump sour cream on it.

I have a recipe for a corn casserole that uses that Jiffy mix. I like it--but it's too sweet, so I'd never be able to use it for cornbread. Cornbread with sugar makes my stomach spasm.

My parents taught me to be tolerant, since my own sister puts sugar on grits.

(I just shuddered as I typed that.)
