Awesome! Everytime I hear the song, that particular part makes me think of that exact scene in '100'. You really nailed what I call the choice-that-wasn't-a-choice-vibe of the scene.
It really was *not* much of a choice. I just. Flashbacks and all I STILL think some part of Hotch was perfectly aware that he did it properly, caught and arrested, Foyet once and that had turned out SO well... No, just. End of the road, buster. *babbles at you*
I'm very unpopular with my CM friends because I always argue that killing Foyet was borderline murder, the only thing making it different was the fear Hotch had for Jack. Mitigating circs at best. The justification given later was a bit weak; I understand completely but a nod to the fact that Hotch killed him rather than Foyet was killed would have made the rest of the season spectacular. Maybe I should write a coda...
Dude, seriously. I love Hotch. I know why he did it. I do get it, but. Bottom line? Hotch chose to kill Foyet. He did it for a reason but that doesn't mean it wasn't... well, murder. Hotch snapped, bashed his face in with *his bare hands* and had to be pulled off. Whitewashing that, I think, takes a lot of the 'oomph' away from how far Foyet had pushed Hotch and how broken Hotch was.
