This is beautiful. I think I'm one of those who does need the 'feel better' piece!

For some reason, I especially like "He changed his ship and his name but never his rank". Good ol' quirky Jack.

Me too! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I've got this pet theory, that's not really a theory but more an... idea? Insertion into "my personal canon of Jack" that says his name may be fake but he really was a Captain. Of something. Somewhere, somewhen. It IS quirky, and I can totally see Jack clinging to that.

He fought like a wildcat and he ran like hell.
I love this as a description of Jack and his life. Kind of happier than the other, but just as strong and resonating. Great stuff.

This is very shiny, and comforting, after "He Died," in its vitality. There's a nice contrast between the bleak starkness there and the feeling of energy and motion given here.

Jack is honestly one of the most alive characters I think I've ever seen, even in Torchwood.
