Feeling the S3 love, too. I was a mad X-Files fan, but not necessarily into OT3. M/K, yes. Maybe a little bit of a secret shipper, too. (Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone!)

Can understand about the whole shipper thing - I am leaning that way too. Which is an almighty surprise but there you go!

I just go all wibbly over MP is my problem. That and there was a lovely scene in Piper Maru (I think) where Skinner and Scully had a discussion about their concerns for Mulder. The bunnies got quite excited by that.

Silly bunnies!;)

Blimey! That's excellent... thank you! If I had cookies, you'd have a plateful!;)

By the sounds of it, this is certainly a show that I *should* find interesting... Will wait and see - I've got SGA and Doctor Who on their way to me. So Caudwell and Daleks in my future;)

If you didn't know already - S2 is due in September (both R1 and 2) and if you can 'do' R1 - Season 1 is cheaper in R1 than it is 2... The things you find out when you're researching a show;)

As for perving over Gibbs... lusting over older guys is never a problem;)

Hey, I found your entry while playing around on samcarterfic (those who can't write click random links ;-D) and I thought I'd give your question a go.

I love NCIS, truly I do. I came into it late, between Seasons 2 and 3, and the love is quick-catching.

So - what do I need to know? NCIS stands for Naval Criminal Investigative Service. They are a civilian organization that investigates crimes relating to the US Navy and Marine Corps. They answer to no military authority, so they don't have to worry about chain of command or saluting officers or rank or any of that nonsense.

Who are the main characters? Anyone I'm going to take an instant shine/dislike/develop 'inconvienent' feelings for? On the slash front - pairings?Leroy Jethro Gibbs. The boss. Hard as steel, do not cross him. He knows all, he sees all, he is... GIBBS. ;-D He's ex-Marine and has been married three times. He's building a boat in his basement with no real plans as to how he'll get it out when it's finished ( ... )

Yeah, what they said. All I'll say is that I really adore the show. Tony seems to be the one that people either love or hate, everyone else is plenty likeable. There's definite slashy subtext between Tony and Gibbs. And you know I'm not a slasher at heart, but I TOTALLY see it. (Even though I'm so Kate/Gibbs.) Tony is just so effing in love with Gibbs it isn't even funny. He lives to impress Gibbs, be petted by Gibbs, BE Gibbs. He gets jealous when Gibbs gives affection to others. It's just amazing. And Gibbs is less transparent, but he tends to give Tony a smack when he needs it, followed by a secret smile of affection when Tony isn't looking. I think you'll love them.

And the show in general is just funny and smart and full of engaging characters and great action. Er, don't watch while eating. Forensics shows are the new horror genre, I swear.

Enjoy!

I think everyone has given you the basics on the characters. My favorite pairing is Tony/Gibbs, though there's quite a few Gibbs/Ducky and some Tony/McGee as well.

I like Tony (Michael Weatherly is very guh inducing), but I do have to say he's very inconsistently written. Sometimes he's played up as a juvenile womanizer, other times he's a mostly-by-the-book agent. I think the juvenile behavior is a front, but it doesn't make it less annoying when they go overboard with it. It's not too bad in the first season though.

I started watching the show near the end of the first season. There were several early in that season that I never got to see, so I'm watching it on DVD now. It's interesting to see some throwaway lines that I know plays out as something more later on.
