Wandering by on friendsfriends, but I know this one:

If it's a heterosexual couple, then, yes. If it's a same-sex couple, then, no, it won't be recognized in states that don't allow gay marriage. Currently New York does and Nevada doesn't; a same-sex marriage valid in New York wouldn't be recognized in Nevada. A same-sex marriage in New York would be recognized in any other state that also allows gay marriage, though.

This is whacked, but it's the current state of US law.

If we're talking a plain ol' civil service between two straight people, then yes. If the celebrants have the same bits, however... Not so much.

Same-sex marriage in Nevada is currently prohibited by the state constitution: "Only a marriage between a male and female person shall be recognized and given effect in this state." It also stresses that no marriage recognition from other jurisdictions will be accepted.
