I tend to avoid foods based on appearance and texture. Plain bread is a no, sugar in almost every form is avoided, plain meat is gross except a well-cooked steak (I like meat in very small portions and prefer if it's mixed in with rice or noodles), I'm careful with cheese depending on the way it's prepared, etc.
I'm also repulsed by large portions because I feel as though I'm expected to eat all of it.
