This is bull. >>

So basically they passed an incredibly vague law that will allow them to heavily censor/ban anime, manga, and games in Tokyo. And by "incredibly vague" I mean "they added 'etc.' to the end of a lot of examples given of what passes for censorable material for chrissake".

For example, take this passage: The DPJ’s only addition to ( Read more... )

I understand the reasoning behind it. I walked past many a convenience store where there were multiple rape-fantasy manga covers out on display for any member of the public to see (I am not certain on buying). It is offensive to see that women are depicted as sex toys for men. I don't think people under a certain age should be able to see it.

But that needs to be made clear in their law. It shouldn't be vague nor open ended. That's the problem with it. And really, a lot of the otaku stores, already self-sensor. Things that are graphic, are behind an 18 or older area.

Now if this new law is targeting just...pictures of half naked or naked characters, well...that's arguable. I mean we should not be ashamed of the naked human form. We can be offended by that naked form being ABUSED or MISTREATED, but if some lady or man is standing there standing around being like hey I'm naked, what's the problem?
