In my long hiatus away from lj (while I was on tumblr), I think I finally broke myself of needing to come back to lj. It doesn't hurt that they've been monkeying around with stuff again and since I no longer feel that unwavering loyalty to them and more people have been making the jump, I think I may finally be ready. I'll still crosspost and

My big hold off with dw has been that most people were still on lj and that I've never been that fond of dw comment pages. But with tumblr having broken my habits now.... XD

I knowww I was realizing I've had a DW for two years, myself! Crazy shiznit. I hadn't realized they'd been around quite that long, but I guess they're going strong, and just getting stronger! This time it's feeling a lot more like a true migration for me instead of people going "Well, maybe I'll back things up there." My friendslist is booming. And by the way, there was a multi-fandom friending meme so you should go peek over there and ask people to be friends! (Likely it's died down enough that you're not going to get too many hits if you put up your own advert, but you never know.)

Yeah, this time it actually feels like there's a real migration going on, not just people using it as a backup that gathers dust. It'll probably still be quiet (as compared to how lj used to be) for awhile, but, hell, I'm not sure I could handle a lot of traffic anyway, since I'm already using up all my free time on-line already. XD
But as long as I can keep a good chunk of my flist, I will be totally happy there. ♥

And well. We all know how I felt about Emma's movie counterpart. In the second half of the movie, it's like they literally forgot her character existed!
Also, obviously, I'm already on DW so if you do try it out, I'll see you there! A lot of fandom people are moving over, in a way they haven't previous times, so we'll see. CFUD IS moving to DW so I definitely think that's a major turning point.

I'm especially frustrated at the waste of Emma's role in the movie because it's a chance to actually explore her character (versus how she all too often feels like an extension of Scott's character in the comics, for me) and then... this happened.
I've been trying it out! I actually posted this first on dw and used the crossposter and I think I've got it set up well! I just haven't figured out how to get the dw link on my lj posts yet....

i think the fact that i've read very little x-men meant i could enjoy the movie without wanting to shake it for all the non-canon things (i mean, it doesn't even jig with movie canon! i love how they basically went, "FUCK THE COMICS, FUCK THE MOVIES, FUCK EVERYTHING"), although i had a lot of issues with the movie in any case, despite really enjoying in (let's not even start with the treatment of minorities and women in it. it pisses me off when i think about it too much).
i think i mostly liked it because well, xavier and magneto are fascinating characters, and here they're being bff douchebags who tour america looking for mutants and use stupid one liners (it really felt like a Movie About How Magneto Needs A Lot Of Therapy -- he was kind of the anti-hero, which made me blanch because well, magneto and everything he advocates (it should alarm me i was fond of both him and loki because, two genocidal maniacs, anita, these are not good life choices D:). i bought into that so easily because serial nazi ( ... )

Oh, Anitaface, someday I will get you into the actual comics because, okay, sure it's kind of hard to keep up with sometimes and there's a lot of work to keeping them organized, but it's such a passionate genre and there's so much canon that you pretty much never run out and there's always something worth reading and always always always a character that you'll connect with.
I... I don't want to be that fan who comes down on the movie and alienates her friends that liked the movie because I totally get it! And I don't judge those who liked it, honest! It's just... from what I was looking for from the movie, I didn't get it at all, and I was very disappointed. Especially so because Erik Lehnsherr is a fascinating character ( ... )

I marathon'd every season of Parks and Rec this holiday break! Definitely a slow start, but got SO good. :D

I'm glad it's not just me who found it to have a slow start then! Because I kept thinking that it was just me and maybe my sense of humor was broken. D: But I saw a lot of gifs on tumblr and they all looked hilarious, so I skipped ahead and voila! suddenly it worked much better. But either way I'm glad I've got the show to enjoy now. ♥
