That post about Oguri and Yuu bothered me a lot. I got up in there about it. OP doesn't give a shit, unfortunately, but at least it seems like not everyone was as insensitive as she was. Thankfully.

It made me a little genuinely angry to read the comments on that thread, especially what the OP was writing. I was uncomfortable reading the original post itself, but the comments sent me over the edge--it's really frustrating to see women treated that way and for people to be called on it, but not realize it's a problem. I realize it's a gossip comm, but that almost makes it more important! Gossip comms (and their ilk) are what form so much of our lexicon on-line and how we treat subjects.

EXACTLY. The content itself may not need to be taken seriously--I mean, c'mon now, we're talking about unsubstantiated rumors about people we've never met purely for entertainment--but that doesn't mean turning it into offensive humor is ever funny. There's a very clear line that should be drawn there that the OP just doesn't see.

It's frustrating to realize that so many women are ignorant of the discriminatory, damaging treatment of other women, and even worse, that they partake in it. But unfortunately, I think that particular OP is the type (I am making a character judgment here, and may well be wrong) that would also use racial or homophobic slurs and find them funny, too. And while I dislike it, I realize that there are those people that will find that stuff funny and that can't really be helped. What CAN be helped is to recognize that such things are DEFINITELY not for everyone, and to respect people's levels of discomfort in what is essentially a public setting.

It's frustrating because what's just a joke now settles into people's brains and eventually you stop realizing when it's a joke or when it's being genuinely hurtful. Just because one person isn't insulted by it, that doesn't mean that others aren't being hurt by it! It's genuinely harmful because people will think it's okay. They see it all the time on the internet, so it's not a big deal, why are you so upset by it, you slut? It's harmful when men do it, it's harmful when other women do it! (And especially sad in the latter case.)

Not seeing the problem that the woman is automatically blamed just because she dared to have sex with who she wanted to really bothers me--if it's true, then it was his fault for cheating, not hers.

I'm not going to chase the OP down and lecture her or anything (especially since I don't think it'd do any good) but I'm certainly going to be giving her the side-eye and enjoy seeing all the speaking up about how uncomfortable people are.

I would just like to point out that Shun is cheating on his girlfriend with someone in a bathroom, and Sexual Powerhouse!Nino apparently is all up in public bathrooms. COINCIDENCE?

I REFUSE TO HAVE INTIMATE RELATIONS IN A PLACE THAT IS SO UNSANITARY, Jun says firmly.

Really? says Aiba with great confusion, But that green room yesterday was used by like three people before us, so wouldn't that--

I REFUSE EVER TO AGAIN Jun corrects hurriedly, kicking Aiba in the shin.

Nino stage-whispers to Shun that they'll wait for Jun to get drunk some night and then convince him to do it or else they won't come out and meet him when he drunkenly calls them up.

P.S. I am imagining Shun/Jun/Nino bathroom fucking now and I don't think I can even pretend to be cranky about that image eating my thoughts.

Damn you. Since you linked that macro, I had to go back to the post and check through page by page for more amusing images. You are a horrible influence.

I also refuse to talk about B&R. Because. I dun wanna. =P Seriously though, reading your impressions makes me remember why I didn't remember the issues in the first place. Weird plot is weird and kind of not interesting.

S/B HOWEVER! THING OF BEAUTY.

(And the shorts for Kara was actually an editorial mandate a while back that got the fanboys in a huff. Which is hilarious since there are now like 500% more upskirt drawings than there were before. Whatevs.)

I just really loved the issue and I wasn't expecting Dick to show up at all and then he shows up to tease Damian and yes. YES.

And Kara calling Damian "Lil' Matches". ♥

There are some great ones on it. I am a totally awesome influence.

And you should talk about B&R with me! Because I READ IT AND I DON'T WANT TO BE ALONE, OKAY. Morrison is just... ugh, whatever, it all takes place in a separate continuity anyway.

I'm glad about the mandates for the shorts because, seriously, they make a whole lot of sense and now the upskirt shots don't bother me nearly as much.

I totally didn't expect Dick to show up at the end, either! But it was beautiful. THE BUNNY COSTUME, seriously, how is Damian such an amazing little shit? And this is why Dick is the best. He's going to tell Alfred that their little Damian is growing up now! Because he cares about Damian.

No, no, no, you are a horrible influence. Normal people shouldn't take joy from inflicting sparkly rainbow things on other people! *firm nod*

I so don't even know what to do with the Talia thing? I mean, I guess it made sense? I did kind of go, "Uh, sure whatever" at the fact they can remote hijack Damian's body because. Yeah, I got nothing. I don't know... the thing is, reading B&R as just one of many bat titles felt weird for me? Like Morrison was deliberately trying to push Damian in that direction or this while the rest of the DCU proper has pretty much embraced his bratty little nature? I feel like Morrison's still trying to define the character and it doesn't work? (At least for me? Because I like the bratty Damian better and really Morrison, you had freaking years to get some solid personality down.)

See, I just assumed she was wearing like cheerleading briefs underneath and kind of left it at that. I do find it interesting that apparently someone felt the need to have a meeting about Supergirl's underwear in an ( ... )

I keep forgetting that Damian is a Morrison creation, because everything Morrison writes feels OOC. It was so hilarious a few months ago, I checked out a random volume of the X-Men from the library that was during Morrison's run (it was there, so I grabbed it with my other stuff, basically) and was reading about Fantomex. The entire time I was reading, I kept thinking, I don't really know this character well, but this seems so... OOC.

AND THEN I REALIZED IT WAS HIS INTRODUCTION ARC.

*flaps hands uselessly*

That's how bad Morrison is--even when it's a brand new character that he created, I keep thinking, "Nobody really acts like this. Not even in comics."

And thank god the rest of the DCU has embraced Damian being a little snot because that is the only way a character like that works! If you try to make him this badass, it's only going to make fans of the other characters resent him! And I do get the sense that Morrison is off in his own little world with his own definitions of the characters that nobody else really follows, ( ... )
