For me, this is actually really moving along.

► - Joystiq's Naughty Bear review just makes me want to play the game even more now. Apparently you can make other bears commit suicide if you scare them enough. It sounds AWFUL. And yet ADORABLE. (God, what is wrong with me?)

► - Another game I really kind of want to see is American McGee's Little Red Riding Hood because I enjoyed his Alice ( Read more... )

*blink* you are awake! ... how much sleep did you get...?

*rubs eyes* I'm not sure, but I think I slept most of the night? I'm debating between more sleep, watching anime, and playing video games. Or staring blankly at the computer. That's always an option. orz

I assume from your idle status you chose the video games, although I could be wrong. XD Also, entirely apropos of nothing, is it just me or does Sanji look like he's about to bite Zoro's neck vampire-style in your icon...? Seriously, I'm expecting him to go "RAAARRRR *MUNCH*"

Actually, I went to take a nap. Apparently, I was still tired. orz Though, I'll need breakfast/anime time soon-ish, I suspect.

I FELT THE SAME WAY IN THE FIRST COUPLE OF DAYS WHEN EVERYONE ELSE HAD IT AND I DIDN'T, SO I KNOW YOUR PAIN.

But it'll be so delicious and gorgeous when you do finally get it!

Cid is very hot. 'Nuff said.

Snow and Lightning will get a bit of time talking together in Chapter 10. I do like that brother/sister dynamic they got there.

Hope does get even better later in the game, especially after you get to his home.

Fang is a total pervert. She rips at people's clothes to look at their boobs/ass/marks whenever she can. But my fav part is really when Lightning and Fang pair up. I mean it's totally Thelma and Louise, I swear.

To be honest, the boss fights haven't been that hard. I had more gameovers fighting regular mobs in chapter 9 than with anything else up to there. The game difficulty will ramp up and you will need to be paying very close attention to your paradigms and setting them up properly. But man, Odin kicked my ass so hard. In the end, I used the smokes just to get a bunch of buffs up quickly at the start of the fight, that made all the difference.

I figured the game difficulty will eventually ramp up, which is why I'm cranky about not being able to over level even just a little bit, because that's how I buy myself some breathing room to deal with crap. But I have a guidebook that I occasionally refer to, hopefully that'll be enough to get me through anything that's too terribly tough. And I'm getting really good at flipping from one paradigm to another and keeping an eye on my health and stats.

The hardest part about Odin was surviving his initial onslaught, but once you could do that, it wasn't so hard.

I think I am spending a lot of time customizing my paradigms. Also, for some battles (now that I have everyone in my party), its necessary to switch people in and out, so you shouldn't have the mindset of just having your favorite people and exclusively sticking to them.

I haven't needed a guide so far at all, although I haven't upgraded any of my weapons and am wondering which to max. But you know, I have no gil, so I am buckets of sadness.

PS: I thought Brynhildyr was harder than Odin.

I keep putting off upgrading my weapons since I'm not sure which ones to sink all my materials into--what if a better weapon is just around the corner? And the basic weapons they have now allow me to get through the fights fairly well, so I haven't had the need to figure that out yet.

:ASLDKJALKJ GETTING CASH IS SO HARD IN THIS GAME. D:

re Odin:

I was like

fffffffffffffffffff x many times

Then I used two of those pre-battle buff things and tore him to pieces :)

And Hope is fourteen, okay, riding on a giant robot and smashing shit to pieces has been his lifelong dream.

I have yet to figure out how to be able to use those pre-battle buff things (do you use them before you get into the battle? if so, how? or do you use them at the start of a battle?) but I haven't super needed them yet, so I've been saving them. For WHEN, IDEK.

Ahahahaha, well, I have to admit. Seeing Lightning casually walking behind Hope smashing everything to pieces while she's got this "....I guess that's one way to handle enemies. :|" look on her face was pretty hilarious.

Just hit L1 when you're running around normally and a little screen will come up with all the sols that you have! Then you can use them and get a buff in the next fight that you get into. I went into the Odin battle with Haste, Protect, Shell, Faith, Bravery or something ridiculous like that xD I haven't used them for any other boss battles yet actually, because... a lot of bosses kick my ass the first try, ngl ._. But I like how fights can be hard and go south REALLY FAST but after a few tries you can usually come up with a working strategy to beat them.

I did like Lightning and Hope's relationship when they were hanging out! Hope turned out to be a surprisingly pro-active kid. I mean, even though you can predict what will end up happening anyway.

AH, THAT WORKED! Thank you for that! I almost never use them, I like to head into fights to get as much CP as I can, especially now that stuff costs ~1,000CP to unlocked EACH TIME, but once in awhile I just really don't want to fight the goddamned flying motorcycles. >_<

I think that's what makes the gameplay work for me--yeah, sure, I miss the old style of menu options and stuff, but this actually makes the fights interesting and you have to stay on top of them. You really can die if you're not paying attention! But it's not impossible to figure out a combination that works for you and, hey, you can always retry a fight if the tide has been turned against you!

I have no idea when I'll get to play FF13 (or even get a PS3; no point if I won't have the time), but having read enough reactions and having seen a friend playing it in Japanese, JESUS I HATE MY LIFE. I already have a giant girlcrush on Lightning.

It's also pretty easy to get a giant girlcrush on Fang, which just makes the game all the more awesome for me. I love that it's the chicks this time around who are hardcore awesome right from the beginning, but it takes me awhile to warm up to the dudes.

ON THE OTHER HAND, AT LEAST YOUR WALLET ISN'T CRYING?
