A great picture like this certainly makes your story more immediate. I'm hoping Ernesto hits land and loses force long before he reaches you. I've never been ina hurricane that actually hit where I was, but last years' slate of almosts was enough for me. In Houston, three weeks after Katrina; in Houston during Rita holed up in a glass-windowed hotel; in Fort Lauderdale the week after Wilma. I think the weather should just take a rest this season! Thanks for the tale ... HUGS!
Coming from the west as it would have to do, Ernesto will have to cross a whole lot of Florida before it gets here...which will mean wind speeds that can still make things exciting around here but not the kind of gale force that could blow us to OZ and back.
The last time I sat through a hurricane (and that was still a near-miss) was when Floyd passed by in '99 and at the time, I was with someone I didn't mind at all being shuttered up with -even as all of Mother Nature went crazy outside.
I had wondered where you were when Rita came through...I take it that you knew better and stayed away from the windows? (grin) And are you a target at all in Brenham for one of these storms?
