Hello all.

I have several vegetarian friends on my f-list here so I was wondering if anyone could suggest some "staples" that I should keep stocked around here.

Thanks!

pre-marinated baked tofu... you can throw it in veggie stir frys or on salads... tastes good right out of the package. also veggie hot dogs "smart dogs"... so good. u can put them in soups or eat with mustard. barbeque baked beans!! ...lots of protein! ive been a vegetarian since 1st grade so i eat a lot of veggies... i put them in everything and they taste good... and i eat a lot of bread to feel full (whole wheat and multi grain... or brown rice). hope this helps :)

Grains like quinoa and bulgur are super fast/easy to cook. Beans & rice together = complete protein. That pre-marinated baked tofu is indeed awesome, if on the expensive side. Since you're on a soup kick, check out those soups that come in cartons. Many of those are vegetarian and very flavorful. You might want to look into buying one of those beginner guide books. That would give you all the info you need on nutrition in one easy place. Also, perhaps join a community or two on LJ to get a constant stream of new (and usually easy/cheap) recipes on hand.
