Doctor Who 5x03: Victory of the Daleks

OK, so last week, I made the mistake of reading other people's reactions to the episode before starting my own. Not this week. ( Spoilers for Doctor Who 5x03 )

Frankly, Amy's coming off rather more competent at world-saving than the Doctor is...

Really yes. She seems to have her head on pretty straight... except for the whole wedding-dodging thing, I suppose.

I can never decide whether it is better just to write my reactions first of to read other people and synthesize first.

For me this was the week where he really felt like THE DOCTOR to me.

It helps that I love history episodes I think.

Also I adore Amy and the fact that she saves the day and isnhasn't just been there to get kidnapped or whatever yet.

Also Churchhill. I want to know what other Doctor(s?) he knew.

Well, last week other people's opinions overwhelmed my own and I wasn't able to finish my reaction for two days after because of it, so I decided I'd better write first, then read, this time. *shrug*

For me this was the week where he really felt like THE DOCTOR to me.

Yes. I'm sure a significant part of this is the Daleks; after everything he's been through with them, they just bring something out from the core of who he is.

I love the history eps, too. :-)

Yes, definitely the Daleks and the idea that he had interacted with Churchhill in a prior incarnation brought back the history of who he is beyond just Eleven.

I am really hoping this season has more history episodes, last season was really light on them (although I did enjoy both of the ones that did exist).
