I just finished watching "The Trouble With Tribbles" again and am now filled with a desire to see Chris Pine!Kirk buried to his neck in Tribbles.

(Seriously. Best Episode EVAR.)

Scotty having had a Tribble as a pet would certainly explain why he was worried about them getting burned up by being too near the engines.

Of course, he then used them to basically pants the Klingons, so he can't have been that worried about them. XD
