Oh, Star Trek...

Y'all are going to think I'm crazy. I'm just back from seeing the Star Trek movie for the 2nd time, and now I'm plotting going again tomorrow. I just discovered that one of the somewhat local (I say somewhat because it's 20 miles away) theaters has IMAX. And they're showing the movie in IMAX. Eeeeee. Um. It's awesome enough on a regular screen; I ( Read more... )

Matt and I are debating whether we want to see it in IMAX, or whether we want to go to the nice theater that serves food and drinks during the movie. Decisions, decisions.

FWIW, I have seen it twice now (and am thinking of going again tonight!): once in IMAX and once in our local theater. And actually? The smaller screen was better. The camera work in many scenes is very jerky (I think they're trying to convey a sense of motion and action) and in IMAX, it was actually a bit distracting.

So, you might well be fine with your local theater.

I'm glad to hear that, because we just made reservations at the theater with the food. [g] If we like it we might end up seeing it again at IMAX, but this schedule worked out better.

IMAX was great, but if you go, try to get there in time to get a center seat. I ended up on the end, and although it was still good, center would've been better.

IMAX is totally, totally worth it! Just know that once you go IMAX, you won't want to go back. ;D

IMAX was great! It would've been better had I managed not to get stuck in traffic and gotten there in time to get a good seat, but oh well.

I saw it this morning! in IMAX so I don't know how it compares to regular screens. I appreciated the sound, though. It was tops on that count, I thought. I only had one rather disorienting, dizzy moment and I don't know if it was the size of the screen or the way my head happened to be tilted at that point. Maybe a combination. Whatever. I can't be properly coherent right now. I'm all "!!!!!!!" right now.

Heeeee. Yeah, that's how I was immediately after seeing it the first time. !!!!!! I mean, I'd heard it was good, but that just made me worry I'd be disappointed more, you know? Thankfully, that was not a problem. :-)
