1: 68 Wives by hmpf is so lovely. It's a Highlander piece of fan fiction, but please don't be put off if you know nothing about Highlander, because I know nothing about Highlander and it doesn't matter. It's a story about Methos, who rarely appeared in the show, and is the oldest of the surviving immortals. He's been around for 5,000 years and in ( Read more... )

Oh, yes, I remember those things! They were on TV! Back when I didn't have a TV! I think... Thanks for finding that link!

Hmm. I must locate and watch this. Possibly I shall wait until I again see hmpf, because when we are not watching Farscape, there are so few programmes we can both squee at at the same time.

Rephrase: there are many programmes we can both squee to at the same time, such as when watching Life on Mars and she can squee over John Simm and I can squee over the fact that Gene Hunt is the God of Children and Annie is really Sam's Coma. But we can so rarely both squee about attractive people while watching the same program.

Well, I don't squee a lot about attractive people, anyway... hmpf February 3 2008, 20:04:30 UTC
And neither do you, really. It's not really surprising that our rare squee objects don't intersect often. ;-)

I think I could get behind the Chiwetel Ejiofor squee, btw. That first pic in particular is smoking hot. *g*

Also: thanks for the rec!

I don't usually find Chiwetel Ejiofor attractive in still photos, although that first one in your picspam is a definite exception mmm, but I find him extraordinarily compelling on screen and it doesn't seem to make much difference what sort of role he's in because he can be compelling while portraying almost any type of personality.

Thank you for the picspam. ♥

I know exactly what you mean! Or rather, I usually do find him attractive in stills, see: schoolgirl crush, but as I in one of the comments above, often my response is that still pictures just don't look good enough; they don't accurately reflect the way he is and the raw charisma and sexiness he exudes on screen. It doesn't help that there also aren't that many pictures of him, relatively speaking. You're the first person I've heard who also notices the difference between his attractiveness in "person"/in print. I think a lot of his attractiveness is, maybe, the way he moves? He's such an awesome actor.

And that first picture (and yes GUH), is unusual in that I almost expect him to move out of it, somehow the photographer has captured the spirit of his physical presence? Hmm. *must think about this more, possibly while rewatching Serenity*

Thank you for the picspam.

You are most welcome! :D

I don't think there are many actors who would've made the operative in Serenity as understandable, if not actually sympathetic, a character as Ejiofor did. Without a performance as good as his the film, and the Firefly mythos, would've lost a whole layer of meaning (and incidentally retro-actively ruined the character of Book for me).

Have you seen Kinky Boots? What? I had to ask!

Oh ABSOLUTELY. The Operative is mega-sexy and desperately interesting but I think with pretty much anyone else in the role he would have been horribly uninteresting.

What do you mean about Book? I presume the suggestion that he used to be an Operative? Since we never...well since they totally dropped the ball on doing anything with the character or giving us any actual answers?

Have you seen Kinky Boots?

No, actually! I'm well aware of it and desperately wanted to go see it in the cinema, but none of my friends did and between one thing and another I missed it. I keep meaning to pick up the dvd but haven't yet, to my shame. It looks really good, though I admit I'm a little less-invested than I could be on account of thinking that while I'll still get to enjoy his performance, it won't be quite as drool-friendly as films where he's playing, say, a non-transsexual male?
