NaViMaMo Vidlets: It's Not (Before). // It's Not (After). [Fringe]

Nov 14, 2010 01:27

Aaah, and deadlines continue to slip. It's "on time" in the sense I haven't gone to bed yet? Even if it's tomorrow? ;)

For coffeejunkii. With apologies that I basically vidded the bit before and the bit after the bit you specifically mentioned and not that bit at all *facepalm*. In recompense, I offer you a pair of vidlets, each to a different verse ( Read more... )

navimamo, olivia dunham, there is more than one of everything, vidlet

OMG! thank you! i actually really love the chorus as well, but i couldn't imagine at all what kinds of moments from fringe might go with it. and here you go and find such perfect olivia moments to go with the lyrics.

i love the idea of olivia before/after. i've always found olivia's strange childhood so fascinating. it says so much about her and who she is. she's come a long way since then, and yet, those experiences still define her. likewise with her new self on the other side. the past is still surfacing.

my favorite alignments of lyrics to images was "dreams of an astronaut" and "space that goes on forever." gah, now i'm all excited about next week's ep :D

I'm so relieved! Yes, the chorus is very interesting, but I was struggling to think what I could put to it; I think if I'd vidded the whole song, something would have risen organically, but the interesting thing about vidletting again (which I haven't done in a while, and certainly never this fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants!) is how...much blunter I think I am with my lyrical interpretations? Like, I always want to cut to the chase? And I think the chorus would have required more buildup and context to pull off in emotional terms? Whereas the verses were easier to use to hammer home some points with the subtlety of anvils. ;)

Either way, I'm very relieved you like what I did with your prompt. The entire song is fascinating.

I completely agree that Olivia's childhood is a source of endless conflict and interest - it's essentially the biggest difference between her and Altlivia, and it definitely defines huge portions of her personality.

You also picked out two of my favourite moments. :)

Thank you! I'm really relieved that the editing works. You know I'm usually all jumpcut obsessed and quite fast, so doing this, especially with the compressed time limit, I was concerned it'd look like laziness, but something about the song made it feel like I needed to linger and wait on things.

And omgs, yes, the way she remains so tightly controlled under all circumstances breaks my heart, especially with regard to Walter, especially because she doesn't do it to save face for him, she does it for herself. She manages to be obviously angry with him while refusing to lose control and rage at him in a way that would "clear the air".

I LOVE HER SO MUCH.

I love these both so much. The first one especially, with all the significance the Cortexiphan has had on Olivia's life. Poor woobie Olivia.

These are making me wish I had requested a vidlet myself!

Thank you! Olivia is totally a woobie. I think the way she seamlessly slots into that male stereotype (and how in the first season before it becomes obvious quite how woobified she is, she's basically an overworked cop - another male stereotype) is part of why I LOVE HER SO MUCH.

It's not too late to request a vidlet if you want to! :) I'm not closing the prompts until the end of November, but I'm also just planning to keep trundling on making them until the end of November and then if I haven't completed them all at that point, I'll make a decision about whether to finish them off at the start of December.

Thank you! :D I'm really glad you enjoyed it. The lyrics are so haunting here, it was a joy to edit to them.
