"...he wants to divide the world up into good and bad. Well, it's not that simple. We are all both, good and evil. We have rage and compassion. We have love and hate. Murder and forgiveness. Why don't you try forgiving yourself for once." -- Methos, "Forgive Us Our Trespasses" Highlander: The Series"Oh, I may be on the side of the angels, ( Read more... )

Beautiful video!

Thank you!

Thank you for pointing it out!

Happy to share. If you'd like I can post a couple of other Sherlock vids I like?

I also love the two quotes and how they emphasize the grey area in which the characters actually exist.

I've always loved ACD's Sherlock because he operates by his own rules. He's comfortable letting men go who promise they won't commit more crimes on the one hand, and comfortable causing the deaths of murders on the other. There are things I would like to be able to change about the BBC Sherlock, but it does do a good job of presenting Sherlock as living in that grey area. Course I will always love Methos because not only does he live in that grey area, but he's also thousands of years old, and he does cute very well. :D

I would love that!

Okay. It won't be much work. I've got them on my Favorites list at youtube. It's just a matter of snagging the embedding.

...for all its nods to the canon and no matter how well Moffat and Gatiss incorporate the canon, it is different and much more intense and extreme than the ACD!canon.

*Nods.* I doubt it would work for me at all if they hadn't gotten someone as good as Benny to play their Sherlock. It would be easy for a bad actor to make the intensity seem silly rather than serious. Benny manages to hold it all together.

I'd hesitate to compare the two characters, though.

I don't hesitate, but then I think people tend to make a lot more of Methos than is realistic. I mean Methos regardless of how much "life experience" he has is still a single man. He may not be "just a guy," but I don't believe he's "The Ultimate Survivor" or "The Master Manipulator" either.

...it can be a bit difficult with Methos as soon as his own life is in danger.I don't think it is "a bit difficult" I think it's as true to ( ... )

Thank you for sharing this splendid vid. I adored the song "Life Less Ordinary" even before I realized how perfect it was for these two.

SHERLOCK HOLMES AND DR. WATSON. Darling boys.

Happy to share. And like I've said, "If you'd like I can post a couple of other Sherlock vids I like?"

*Nods.* Me too. I love it when a vidder manages to perfectly put together one of my favorite songs with one of my favorite couples.
