This was so odd, I went to see my friend at work who was there with me at the show on the 26th, right down at the stage, and told her about it ( Read more... )

Um, wow. Do you navigate your own dreams or do these things come to you? I want a dream like that.

As in, guide them? No, although I've heard people do. :) Do you "lucid" dream?

The sort of dream where I'm a body in outer space has been happening since I was a teenager, probably too many educational films? Or maybe stuff like 2001? :P Anyhow, I enjoy them, because when I've been an artificial satellite, I have *ears,* at least in an EM sense, and in my dreams, as I zing through the vacuum, I can hear the various calls and hums of the universe in my antennae - gamma ray bursts, radio waves escaping the Earth, the comforting hum of the cosmic background radiation. It's like being a bird, only the cold bothers me. As a satellite, I accommodate the cold, but it tries to subtly rob me of my battery, my sensors. Not that I can feel cold on my outer casing like I would with skin, but I have that sense of annoyance at entropy and what it does to my body as a unit, how it steals my energy a tiny bit at a time.

I've had brief forays into "lucid" dreaming. It's always immediately followed by waking up, the moment I realize I'm in control I become conscious. These things can last longer if I'm exceptionally drowsy due to needing more sleep, still having the previous night's recreational substances in my system, etc... It's never very exciting, because the more forcefully I suggest events, the more likely I am to awaken

Freaky. Never had any luck with that, really, although I have told myself in a dream that I was dreaming, and tried to wake myself to get away from a dream threat/monster, etc.

I'm impressed. My dreams have very little in the way of complex metaphors. Maybe thats because I don't subscribe to the notion that dreams can tell you something meaningful. I have dreams about sex, dreams where people piss me off, and last night I dreamed about smoking marijuana with my boss.

Meaningful, schmeaningful. :D heh heh. I can't see anything meaningful about it, other than my brain had been full of TMBG, and the annoying problem of why my body had prevented it from seeing all it wanted. (Stupid body, never where we ask it to be.) So it jammed the two together with the hunky cola stealer and made a few pictures for me.

I do find, however, if you want meaning, that my dreams are, per Freud's dogma, parts of my brain talking to other parts via imagery. The guys from TMBG do tend to take on metaphorical meanings because I hang out in the TMBG fanspace, so to speak.
