I am not sure this guy is serious in this video, How to Be Yourself When You Don't Know Who You Are, with JP Sears. It limns The Onion, but more constrained. Plus, he has all kinds of obviously sarcastic New Age videos, for instance, Vegetarianism: Fighting for the Cure.
I suspect he's serious, though.

This was obviously written by Christopher Guest. Any minute now, Eugene Levy will come mugging through the set, and Catherine O'Hara will sing some sort of "song."

That is exactly it - Christopher Guest! It is so familiar, and I was thinking, this is shtick, right, where have I seen this. Especially the bug thing, in a number of these filmed outdoors, he stops suddenly to bat at bugs, or slap at bugs, comments on the bugs, then resumes his monologue, and I was thinking, why are you filming this in someplace with bugs? Specifically, why did you do this on multiple occasions on different days in different buggy locales?
