Trigger Warning if You Love Neil Patrick Harris

Neil Patrick Harris; there is something weird or missing in Mr. Harris. I never gave him much thought until a fan of his gave me his autobiography, Chose Your Own Autobiography, and that read made chills run up my spine.  You know how you start talking with someone and they seem intelligent and interesting and then, as the conversation goes on, you ( Read more... )

Color me surprised. What, in this autobiography, suggests that he is a psychopath? He strikes me as a bold extrovert, but I've never given him much thought, either. We are currently enjoying him in the Lemony Snicket Netflix series that just dropped.

Do you recommend NPH's autobiography?

I got the weird impression you receive when you read someones writing and they are actively hiding something important but central about themselves, such as being gay, or a liar or thief. See Chuck Palinchuk, etc. You get the sense they are presenting what they imagine "normal" people would say, but aren't truly clued because they aren't that thing they are pretending to be, just speaking in that voice.

If the book were not so up front about him being homosexual, I'd assume he was a closeted homosexual. Which makes me wonder, Holy Smokes, what could he be hiding?

If you read the book, you can tell me if I am off base, or if you get some kind of creepy vibe, like he isn't really interested in other people as human beings with their own POV, thoughts, feelings, that people might be objects to him, and he has to pretend that is not the case.

Shall I send it to you?

He certainly comes off as a balls out freak in this Lemony Snicket series; like he was born to play the demented actor, Count Olaf. I'm surprised to hear he comes across as hiding something, because as a performer he holds absolutely nothing back. Have you seen any of the Lemony Snicket series?

No need to send a copy. I, uh, found one ;) Thanks for the offer, though!
I'll check it out as soon as I'm finished The Demonologist, and let you know what I think.
