Who is Barbara Marshall? Sorry if she is a personal loss to you. And sorry about the lousy funeral. Gag. Interesting about the BIL situation. Maybe you're just lucky. Not to have to deal with them, I mean. Sad though, for D's sake, I suppose. My husband recently told me that once his mother goes, he probably won't have much to do with his brother. I was gob-smacked. They are very different one from another, but I always thought he loved BIL. Oh, well. If my sisters lived any closer, I probably wouldn't be closer with them, either, but that's just because I have M, probably.

Maybe you can keep contact with the niece, though, she sounds cool.

A'nt Barbara was the jolly wife of Uncle Bob, MIL's brother. Very few of MIL's people are still living, so the thanksgiving-christmas holiday axis generally included Bob n Barb. In fact, visits to the Eastern Shore could include them anyway; last year Dean set up Bob with home email and Kindle service for Barb. So, not someone I loved, but someone whom I very much liked and who was part of family life.

I like the neice idea. I might try to FB the neice, if she has a presence there.

Good grief, man, it was a eulogy, and no offense to Jesus, it was supposed to be about Barbara and comforting the bereaved.

I've always been annoyed by funerals like that, too.

I've seen and probably committed some weird behavior at funerals, too. I hadn't seen the homily being used as a tool for scoring a few souls for Jesus, so it was a shocker.
