Hooray for new henna victims!
Since our very dear
yuki_onna is absconding for the chilly coast of Maine, she wanted a mehndi piece to reflect the change in her life. I was incredibly pleased to help, and excited to do a test-run before her wedding mehndi, and what followed is...
theferrett and
zoethe kindly volunteered their home for the working.
yuki_onna wanted a wrist cuff, to minimize moving damage, and several different representations of the concept of moving.
Since the piece wrapped around her whole wrist, it lead to some tiresome poses. (It's hard to hold your arm up and out for two hours!)
Here is the "keyhole", surrounded by a re-interpreted Tlingit orca.
This is the completed piece, with autumn leaves cascading from the cuff.
theferrett wanted some mehndi as well, and I'm an obliging sort. Plus, they bought us dinner. I'll do just about anything for good Chinese food.
He chose a peacock design, which I'm tidying up in the above photo.
Underneath the bird is the word "moro'a", which means "wisdom" in Arabic.
The completed piece, with an emphasis on the bird. Damn, those wings look good.
