I'm a Navy brat.

I remember a particular instant as a child while visiting the commissary when I realized the connection between WWII and those elderly gentlemen with neat folded hats and red flowers.

I'm glad that after some bitter times past, the US now seems to fully embrace the idea of "Support Our Troops," even if we can't always agree on just what that means.
