So compellingly written. The way you've told this story fills me with compassion. That is to say; I'd feel compassion regardless, but the craft of your writing really brings it to the fore.

Plus, you have my admiration for so skillfully writing a braided essay; doing so still eludes me!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I find it challenging to write about mental illness, especially in some of the ways it has presented in our family, because I think it needs to be discussed and talked about, yet I always want to be careful in my words because I don't want to further stigmatize those affected. I'm grateful that this came across in a way that encourages compassion, rather than fear or "othering".

Mental illness is difficult on the family and harder on th patient as he tries to live without his meds -- and unfortunately that time comes. Nicely formated and very informative. I enjoyed.

I think we're a few years away from that (I'm hoping), as it's something we discuss often. I imagine that as he becomes more independent, we'll have to face that battle.
