Everything is about Tim, but it bothers me a lot that they make him looks so dumb sometimes, with the yoghurt, or the tapwater or the tension in the room...
I don't see Tim as being dumb at all in this episode. Sure he's taken things for granted (like believing what he read without getting ALL the details) and he's a creature of habit (if you're used to drinking or using the tapwater, it's really hard for some people to suddenly stop) but it's all part of his trusting nature and the way his brain is wired. Tim hasn't changed, just the situation has. To me, the moral of the story is don't take Tim out of his natural habitat
( ... )
Holy shit, she did. If you write that dark!fic, I will beta it for you. If you want.
Doesn’t a Special Agent need to have some non verbal communication skills? Can he seriously not pick up on any of the tension in the room?
I actually read that scene as McGee realizing something was wrong...but deciding to plow forward as if there was nothing. Its like you said about his trusting nature, if Gibbs and Abby needed him to know something they'd tell him. So he's not going to worry about it until then, because he knows that otherwise he'll tie himself into knots.
I have so many comments/questions with that scene. Yay for Tony not being angry, just slightly upset and curious, that is real character development.
Thank you for the comments. Upon watching it a second time, yeah, I realised Tim picked up on the tension but he had a job to do so he pressed on. A few years ago he would have tied himself in knots over it but that's character development for you. And character development for Tony too. I'm so proud of the boys.
The eating disorder fic, I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees it. It was an off-hand comment but now I can't stop thinking about it. And it's not just Abby who led Tim into it. Tony could have played his part with the fat jokes. Gibbs playing his part by declaring how the team hasn't earned food until they get some answers. And investigating crime scenes can't help either. Yikes! I may have to take you up on that offer to beta, if I ever do write it. It may be pretty longish as well, if I want to look at the long term effects of Tim's eating disorder. Hmmm...
Thanks again, for the comments and for the offer. *hugs*
my huge nitpicks for the episode. There is no way a vehicle, abandoned out in the middle of nowhere would be in such pristine condition, comparatively. I mean, come on! Even here in Canada, the doors, wheels, windows, motor would have been stripped from it. Or time would have taken care of it.
Also, that lady wears the bullet casing for 20 years and just hands it over to Abby? Yeah, that lady seemed like the trusting type.
And the body was in good enough condition that the bullet could be pulled out? Was still there?
I'm hoping their setting up a Gibbs goes undercover to help break up the drug ring. Possibly with Tim's help.
Yeah, those nitpicks are grating although I'm trying to think how I would write it and I'm struggling. They are setting Gibbs up for the finale and as contrived as it is, I'm starting to think the means justify the ends. I'm worried about Gibbs' future. I NEVER thought that would happen, so even though it's almost laughable the way Abby got the evidence proving him the shooting, she can still prove him the shooter and that's what has me on an emotional rollercoaster. But yeah, it still grates a little.
Yeah, I'm guessing the drug ring features heavily in the last couple of episodes and it would be cool if Tim and Gibbs managed to break it up but... I honestly have no idea what the writers have in store, but I'm sure it's going to be one hell of a ride.
