Coloured Contacts + Dark Eyes??

Aug 13, 2009 21:35

Hi everyone, I'm Chinese and have dark brown eyes.

I really want bright blue contact lenses but don't want to lose £20 if they don't actually work!

Anyone have any recommendations or warnings against certain makes?
Thank you~!

Contacts even for fashion use like for an outfit have to be fitted for your eye. Otherwise you may end up with a painful injury. When they do the eye exam and show you the contacts you should be able to try on the colored lenses. They will show over dark eyes, like you i have very dark brown eyes and i tried on green for fun. I know the Acuvue and Freshlooks cover the brown.

Contact lenses show colour better when your eyes are dark than when you have light eyes, because light eyes' colours tend to mix with the contact colour, making a new colour, while dark eyes are kind of like a blank canvas. My eyes are almost black & coloured contacts show up great with them. I have seven different colours, plus regular clear contacts.

You should definitely have the contacts fit to your exact eye. If you don't, there will be an obvious gap where the transparent part of the contact shows your own color. Also, do not buy contacts with dark rims around the iris. If you follow this advice, you should be able to avoid the dreaded dead-fish look.
