Lemme just say that this community needs a For Audrey tag- I love that colour, it's gorgeous. :) So my question is, since I'm feeling totally uninspired... I was thinking about doing a french mani with for audrey! Any suggestions to give it some flair ( Read more... )

I have to keep my nails really short now because I play bass. BUT when I was in high school I used to get acrylics because ... that's what we did.

In my personal opinion I think they look tacky. And if you get sick of them and don't want them anymore the nails underneath are DESTROYED. It took forever to grow them out so I didn't have sanded horrible nails.

Also. If you do it, make sure you go to a reputable place. Some of those places are less than clean and you can get some heinous fungus.

Acrylics are pretty for the first week or so then they start to grow out. They are expensive and once you get them filled they look kinda crap. They also KILL your natural nail. I am still growing mine out from the last time I had them on months ago and the damage is still there:( Instead take vitamins for hair, skin and nails and purchase something to put under nailpolish to help strengthen.

As for manicure ideas. I love For Audrey. I have done french manicures with a baby pink base or For Audrey as a base and a darker blue at the tip.

If you file your nails every other day (not back and forth but towards the middle from each side at a 45 degree angle), in about six months you'll have the strongest nails you've ever had.
Also, wear gloves when you're using detergents/washing the dishes.
If it's possible, having regular manicures (every 2 - 4 weeks) would do wonders in the long run.

I agree. It took me forever to stop biting my nails (6 years =[) but when I did stop, I started filing them and now they are soooo much stronger.

for fake nails, i just get the glue on kind they sell at most drugstores, they are like 6 or 7 bucks, they only stay on for a week but if they break off, it doesnt hurt like the kind you get at a salon do, they just pop off

I've been a nail biter since I was little, and because of that I have really thin, soft nails that tend to peel when they start to grow.

Recently I bought nailtiques, it's a nail protein that you apply daily. I've only been using it for a little over 2 weeks now, but my nails are so much better. They are growing out faster, and the peeling has pretty much subsided. I would definitely recommend it. I bought mine at CVS. It's a bit pricey, but well worth it in my opinion.
