DIY Straight-Across Bangs

I have a bob with side-swept bangs that has grown out from chin length to just above my shoulders and I'm thinking about chopping it all off soon, but before I do, I want to give straight-across bangs a try. But I don't want to go to a salon to get it done...I'd rather do it myself. Any tips? I've trimmed my own bangs before but never really "cut" ( Read more... )

I've trimmed my own bangs when they were straight across, so I'll give my 2 cents. :)

Never ever do it when your hair is wet, and never ever pull down on the hair while you're cutting. Either one will end with bangs that are too short. I also recommend starting longer than you think you want, and gradually cutting them down bit by bit, to ensure they don't end up super short.

Also, I cut upwards at an angle into the hair, because it's nearly impossible to cut exactly straight across, and the angle just seems to make them fall more naturally.

Otherwise, I'd just Google it online - most of my good tips are originally from random beauty magazine articles.
