After I use a clarifying shampoo, should I use conditioner?

Also, how often do all of you use a deep conditioning treatment or a hair mask? Do you just go by feel or do you stick to a schedule? Any exceptionally good home remedies or drug-store deep conditioners that you would highly recommend?

Yes I would ue a conditioner. Clarifying shampoos tend to strip away EVERYTHING and if I don't follow with a conditioner, my hair is very dull and rough.

I used to use a deep conditioner once a week. I've tried many brands but nothing really did more than a standard conditioner.

One good home remedy is apple cider vinegar. Just pour it over your scalp and hair after you've rinsed. It'll remove build-up and make your hair shiny.

i hear about the apple cider vinegar in hair thing all the time--and i know this is a silly question, but doesnt that make your hair STINK?

LOL when you're using it, it stinks up the shower. But once your hair dries, the vinegar smell is totally gone.

People also use white vinegar as a fabric softener and to remove odors from clothing, and it's the same thing - smell is gone when the clothes are dry.

ditto on the conditioner.

as for deep conditioners, i use neutrogena's triple moisture deep conditioning mask once (sometimes twice) a week, and i love it. it's about $6-8 bucks for a tub.

Clarifying shampoos are only really useful for removing silicone buildup, imo...

As for vinegar, the smell isn't really noticable, because you dilute it with mostly water.

i don't think you are supposed to use a clarifying shampoo more than once or twice a month.

I only use it when I've had a lot of product in my hair. Otherwise I use normal shampoo. I use Suave because it's cheap haha.

Yes definitely use conditioner after shampooing. It makes you hair easier to style, moisturizes it and seals in the moisture. I use the deep conditioning treatment twice a week.
I would highly recommend the Joyco line - shampoo, conditioner and especially the K Pak deep conditioner
