shopping and shirts

I'm hoping to go summer-shopping tomorrow or Friday and I really want to make this a productive trip - i.e., avoid changing room meltdowns and manage to buy flattering clothing that fits. So questions on sizing and flattering and so on and so forth.

a) I just measured myself against the AE size chart and, well, maybe I measured wrong but it ( Read more... )

Wow, you have the exact body shape I do. I'm 5'3 and a 34DD but I weight 140. I've also gained weight recently.. but I'm trying to work it off.

I have huge problems finding shirts that fit my bust... I'll be keeping an eye on this post.

Scoop neck and V-necks are good for large chests, just as long as the necklines aren't too low and put your "goods" on display. :o) You might want to make a stop by Victoria's Secret and get measured just to be sure. I'm a 34DD...finding bras and flattering shirts are not that fun, but VS does have some really cute stuff.

Oh, and I'm 5'5" and 125 lbs, and wear a 6 in AE. You might want to try their 4 to start out with. Good luck!

I've heard that thick straps on whatever type of top your wearing is most flattering on bustier women.

One thing that should help with the meltdowns, don't look at the size your wearing. The sizes do vary a lot so if you have to get a size 8 when in other places you usually wear a size 4 or 6, don't freak out. I recently had to teach myself this. And also, If you find something you like but you think "if only that one little thing was different I would buy it", don't be disheartened and just think about whether it can be altered to suit what you want. I think people don't alter their clothes enough, it makes a world of difference!

Good luck with the shopping! Just try and have fun with it.
