Keeping long, straight hair smooth throughout the day...

In the last few months I've really been trying to sort out my hair and skin routine and am mostly there, but does anyone have tips or product recommendations for keeping long, straight, fine hair smooth during the day? I pretty much always have my hair down and am particularly looking for ways of preventing fly-aways and straggly/raggedy/frizzy ( Read more... )

So, if your hair is oily I'm not sure why you continue to put oils on it when you can use your natural oils. The breaking is probably from over-shampooing and too much brushing with synthetic bristles. I recommend getting a natural boars head bristle brush as opposed to synthetic fibers. They help with taking the hair oils from your roots all the way down your hairs giving you natural oils to keep it healthier, shinier, and stronger. They also reduce breakage. I recommend this brush.

Hey, no problem! I blow dry my hair with a natural bristle round brush, and flat brush my hair before bed to spread the days oils around.

I don't think I phrased it as well as I could. I can get away with not washing my hair for two days at a time but it tends to feel heavier/oily to the touch on the second day and I don't like that very much; the ends are still relatively dry. The oil treatment was a recommendation to help repair ends of my hair and I apply it from just below my ears to the tips. It goes no where near my roots and I'm generally pleased with the results so far - bearing in mind that only a few months ago I did nothing to my hair but wash it and let it air-dry. I'm still learning what works best, though, so thanks very much for the recommendation! I'll definitely check that brush out and think about changing to washing every other day.
