My hair is pretty split (but not like terrible....just a few flyaways i guess) but I keep reading about how olive oil helps repair it and makes it shiny ( Read more... )

None of that stuff is going to mend split ends - the best thing for those is a real haircut.

Nothing will fix split ends other then getting a hair cut.

I use coconut oil in my hair and as a body moisturizer. If you only use a tiny bit and comb it through your hair when it's wet then it won't make your hair greasy or rub off on to things. I put a little in my hair after I shower and when I wake up in the morning you can't even tell that I put oil in my hair, except that my hair is shinier and softer. Alternatively, you can also use it more of a deep conditioning treatment where you cover your hair and scalp with it and leave it in for several hours or overnight. Obviously that way your hair will be greasy until you wash out the oil. It soaks into my skin almost immediately and the greasiness is gone within several minutes. FYI refined coconut oil doesn't smell, but unrefined does.

Coconut oil works so much better than olive oil. I find that olive oil, even a tiny bit, makes my hair look oily and is really hard to wash out.

I use a little coconut oil here and there...just a very little bit!! It seems to work OK and I use it on my skin too.

You can't really fix split ends, only trim them off. To condition your hair deeply without the mess, I suggest you use argan oil, it's much lighter than olive oil or coconut oil and absorbs pretty quickly. I use Pro Naturals Moroccan Argan Oil, though there are other argan oil brands, but this one is the highest quality I've used. It also contains a heat protector to keep your hair healthy and protected. Argan oil deeply hydrates and conditions without greasing your hair up and you don't have to wash it out. Hope this helps, you can find the pro naturals oil at beyas.ca!
