Acne & Foundation

I am coming off Proactiv, I want to replace it with something else. My skin is pretty in pain right now because of it. I had four painful suckers yesterday, but they are down to two painful ones. My skin is normal/combo, not sensitive. I am looking for drugstore or high end ( Read more... )

I have acne prone skin and for drugstore makeup I really recommend L'Oreal True Match liquid foundation, Rimmel Match Perfection concealer, Maybelline Mineral Wear concealer, and Rimmel Stay Matte powder.

I love the MUFE HD foundation but it's a bit heavy for every day use. I only wear it on special occassions and when I know I'll be having my picture taken.

Thanks, I will check them out.

Yeah, I as thinking of just getting it for exactly that reason. Or just play with the products and see if they just need a HD or any find.

Have you tried Cetaphil (the Daily Cleanser one)? I would highly recommend that. At least for me that is the one cleanser that has managed to calm my skin down and control the oiliness.

For foundation, I would recommend Laura Mercier for full coverage. My drugstore choice is L'Oreal True Match too.

I also take flaxseed oil to help with my acne.

Good luck!

I notice a lot of folks recommend that. I did look though the acne tags. Do you use the moisturizer too? Or something else?

I have the tinted moisturizer by Laura Mercier, I use it in the summer. I have been wanting to try it, Sephora sells a set that I have been thinking about trying. I just thought it might be more sheer. Good to know it is full. I usually use between med to full.

Thanks, from what I read about coming off proactiv it could be a while til my skin heals. >.

There are two types of Cetaphil and I cannot stand the Gentle Cleanser one (feels like slime & it doesn't lather). I use Neutrogena Moisturizer with SPF 15 because I prefer to have sunscreen built into my moisturizer.

I believe there's a few types of Laura Mercier too - I get the oil free one. And yes, I get mine from Sephora too, for about $40ish dollars. I received many compliments when I use LM - which is good to know since it's expensive (to me!)

My friend recently became a consultant for Aloette cosmetics. She also used to use Proactiv and found it was really drying and bleached her clothes if she got it on them. She had really bad acne/scarring on the sides of her face and cheeks, and since she's been using the Aloette (which is medical grade and contains Aloe as a primary ingredient), her bumps and redness have cleared up a lot!
You can order the products from Aloette and pay full price for them, or you can host a show where you'll get hostess benefits (I'm excited because I just did that and I got a skincare package for peanuts compared to what it's worth :p)

I love the MUFE HD foundation & concealer. In the warmer weather I switch over to MUFE Mat Velvet+ foundation. I think the Mat Velvet+ has a slightly heavier coverage, but it makes my skin look great! Oh and I also have fair skin with pink undertones, and their lighter shades are perfect for me.

seconding the cetaphil. the 'slime, no lather' texture is weird at first and might take some getting used to but idk, i'm used to it and when my friends have to retouch, i don't yet. even if its after dancing on a bar or something. cetaphil gentle skin cleanser is it for me. i have another friend who swears by it too. we both like, cant breathe without it lol.

you can usecetaphil with or without water. just wipe it on bare face then use a cotton to wipe out the excess. it leaves a thin film. but i hardly ever do that.

i have yet to find a moisturizer. i have heard good things about cetaphil moisturiZing cream :)
