sulfate-free and itchy scalp?

Has anyone else here experienced a very itchy scalp after switching to sulfate-free haircare? I've tried five different sulfate free shampoos and all of them have made my scalp itch like crazy, but I switched to Pantene temporarily this week and I'm not itchy at all. I'm wondering if this is common or if maybe I'm using the wrong shampoos, I am

I'm actually the total opposite... switching to sulfate-free stuff has gotten rid of my itch (except the base of my bangs where I BLAST my hairdryer :/ )

Maybe you're allergic/sensitive to one of the ingredients that they use instead of the sulfates. I'm pretty sure that in sulfate-free stuff, they just swap the SLS for another detergent that's not as harsh. If you still have your bottles I would see if they all have a common ingredient.
