Clean & clear has a light moisturizer that cuts down on oil.

I second Purpose actually. I have really oily yet sensitive skin and find that the more I try to use medicated cleansers, the worse my skin gets. Something gentle that doesn't strip may actually help him, with maybe a gentle medicated lotion.

Neutrogena clear pore cleanser/mask does a good job controlling oil for me.

Choose any product that does not contain sulphate surfactants, nor contain alkaline soaps nor acne-fighting ingredients. All these are known irritants which damage the protective acid mantle/ stratus corneum, this can cause extra sebum to be produced, allowing bacteria to enter the skin, and sometimes dryness or flakeing. Look for any product marked non-comedogenic (will not block pores), pH 5.5 (the same as skin), containing only gentle surfactants such as cocoamidoproyl betaine and decyl glucoside ( ... )

Awww thanks! I have worked in healthcare for over twenty years and have sensitive eczematous skin myself. Luckily I love to learn, so I read a little and finally understand what I was doing wrong all those years, fighting my curly hair and fighting my sensitive skin. It drives me nuts that so many products are marked 'gentle' when they contain ingredients greedy manufacturers know are irritant (but oh so cheap).

If anything I say works for you just pass it on!

hey, i was just wondering if you have a link that lists all the ingredients to look for/avoid in face wash. i know to avoid things with sodium laureth sulfate & variations on that ingredient, but i'm not sure what ingredients are good.

i'm going to have my boyfriend try cerave since he doesn't get many pimples & doesn't need stuff that will increase oil production like normal face washes. however, neither cerave nor cetaphil worked for my skin. do you have recommendations for ingredients to look for/avoid in face wash for sensitive/dry skin?

Deep Action Cream Cleanser... My husband gets oily and when he uses this one or the exfoliating one his face is under much better control. He also uses this face lotion from body shop.
