i think you'll have better luck with hiring a freelance make-up artist. post ads online stating that you're looking for a make-up artist. looking on model mayhem is a good place to start as well.

my sister is a make-up artist and does weddings. i don't really know how she gets the gigs but i'm assuming she finds people online.

you'll probably be able to negotiate a price with a freelance make-up artist especially if you're getting make-up done for your bridesmaids. the make-up artists at mac tend to pile on the make-up and you don't want that for your wedding. try to find an artist who is willing and able to airbrush make-up.

freelance make-up artists will also travel to you (or at least most).

What about looking at local hair salons? I know they usually have make up artists there and they usually have coupons for like 10-30% off your first time.

For my sisters wedding, a lady at a salon did our make up and I think it ended up being like 35$.. didnt have to buy any product and i tipped her 10$.

i agree with nikkigoesdown. look for freelance makeup artists in your area. most will have portfilo pictures posted on their site. it's very common to pay for a makeup trial run. the person should come to your house/hotel to do your makeup.

From what I've heard you have to buy like $50 worth of product. I dunno If they will do your bridesmaids as well without buying more products. Don't know if they'll let you do a practice run but you should definitely head over to that mac and try and see what the makeup they do like looks like so you can get a better idea of what each MA style is.

I agree with above posters about finding a makeup artist NOT affiliated with a makeup counter. When my sister got married, she and I were able to get a "practice run" so we could get the look just right, then on the day of the wedding, the artist came to the church and did our makeup there. Check craigslist for ads or place one yourself.
