I think the trip-killer was the procession through MD, DC and VA, which then necessitated the stop for dinner. If I had it to do over again, I'd say:
Everyone meet at your place after work (6:30ish) either with a sack dinner or having already eaten. Pack a couple logs and some kindling. Drive directly to campground.
We'd still have gotten there in the dark, but it would have been more like 8:30. By 9:30, we could be sitting around a small fire for an hour or so, and then to bed before 11. And I would *not* have coffee with dinner. (Good lord that was stupid in retrospect.)
Unless, of course, I'm totally misunderestimating people's commute home, or the severity of traffic still at 6:30.
But STILL I had an awesome time and thank you so much for organizing it! Would deal with seller again, A+. :)
I agree. The late start coupled with Heinous Traffic was the killer. I think you all should have met us in VA and I could have taken the metro out of the city it would have given us the hour we needed to make that a litte more relaxed.
Despite the low points, I had a Great time and would love to try again with you sometime. I think our crew worked well together and did a nice job of coordinating stuff to bring.
I am DETERMINED to get up to the music ensemble, but it is going to be a challenge until I get a new job and a car. However, If My new job is in Baltimore/Columbia area your house will be on my way home.
Also, with scott's new job starting next week, we will not have to get up at 5:15 every morning. so staying out until 9:00 will not be an issue.
I'm not sure if luscious_purple comes straight from the Greenbelt Metro or from her house; you might be able to snag a ride with her. (And she's usually late, like 8-8:30pm arrival time, if that helps your schedule. It's so regular, actually, I've been considering making the Ensemble just be an hour from 8-9. Would give me an hour to do Other Things besides wait for people to show up.)
