I totally hear you.

Although it's sad to hear LJ is a chore for you!

I find I don't have a lot of time for it myself, but the time I do have I still really enjoy :)

I understand people not wanting to be a part of blindfold, but I sort of don't understand people ALL OF A SUDDEN not wanting to be a part of it.

The horribly offensive prompts were taken down and as for the rest... well. They've always been allowed.

I'm still participating. I'm avoiding the prompts and fills that I find abhorrent and I'm reading (and filling a few of) the ones I like. Easy peasy.

I think part of it, too, is that there just isn't a whole lot of new and original fic being posted right now, because everyone is busy. I, however, have been on ff.net and A03 a lot in the past few days looking at Glee fanfic, as I just really needed something different from all this.

And you're right, Blindfold has always had stuff that squicks people.

I'm glad to hear that you're still gonna participate.

Thankfully, I haven't paid all that much attention to the blindfold drama. A couple of my friends on here have stated their opinions about the matter, but if it weren't for that, I would've never known the drama existed.

Where you stand on the matter is perfectly fine with me. And I'm sorry coming on lj is becoming a chore. =( I hope it gets better because I like having you here!

You are lucky to not be in the middle of it, like I feel like I am.

I won't disappear, I promise. More than anything, I just don't feel as excited to get on as I used to. I guess I should have expected that in such a fandom as Supernatural, we'd have some drama eventually, but it's tougher being stuck in the middle than having a clear stance on an issue.

Hopefully, the drama will disappear soon and you lj experience can go back to being good. =)

I have been in fandom for a loooooong time, and my first fandom was RPS, so I'm kind of looking at this 'drama' and going "What? You don't know your personal policy on this issue yet? WTF have you been doing all this time?" with a dash of "why are you assuming that your values should be the standard by which the entire internet operates? Are you new?" I have been through just about every variation on the 'ethics of RPS' debate there is. I am so, SO over it.

So, I'll still be participating in blindfold.

Have you tried looking for less heavy places of your various fandoms to hang out? I used to be part of the glee newsletter, and Glee fandom on lj is HUGE. I've also gotten into some non-fandom lj stuff recently (crafting, lj_genie). And for a while an SPN comm I was on was doing episode re-watches and live watches, and that just made everything in fandom right for me.

Sometimes it's hard to remember that not all users have the same "it's fine, I'll skip it over if it squicks me" attitude.

The thing about glee comms is that while I have many ships, I keep thinking "what if there are tons of fics clogging up my f-list that I'm not in the slightest bit interested in?"

I still may join a few more Glee comms. I am on a few slash comms, but none of them are terribly active, except for the Klaine one, which I joined just a few days ago. I really want a comm for Rory (I started a group for him on DA), but there is none, and I don't get the feeling that it would get much traffic if I made one.

Generally speaking, blindfold is lots of fun, and it allows me to prompt/fill some of my kinkier interests without feeling weird about it, so I don't necessarily want to leave. I did, but I may rejoin. I don't really know.

Thanks for the advice. I really do appreciate it.

The glee newsletter isn't a bad compromise - a daily post with what is going on in the glee comms: fic, news, art etc. No summaries, just pairing info, rating, and title. But when I was watching/involved with that I was reading and viewing a lot more stuff. It's a loooooong post, but still less clutter than following gleeslash used to be :)

I'm with you on this, hon. I have friends on both sides of the line too, and while they've all said "I respect your opinion regardless blah blah blah", the way they've described their stance makes it pretty freaking clear that they don't respect your opinion if it's different from theirs. Which sucks, 'cause the internet is supposed to be my happy place free from all the drama of RL in general and I don't wanna lose friends over this when it obviously was a troll who posted the prompt that started this whole thing.

*deep breaths*

Anyway. All I really wanted to say is that I'm with you on this & I fully support whatever you decide <333

I'm kind of afraid I'm gonna loose friends over this. I swear, no one can win in this situation. I feel like I've lost my happy place, too.

I appreciate you commenting on this.

That really sucks. I hope things get better for you.

Not only am I not taking sides, I haven't even commented to say that I'm not taking sides. I have an OPINION, mind you, but it is mine to keep, and I won't be judging others based on it. I think everyone knows me well enough by now to know I stay out of this kind of crap.

I wouldn't have stated anything if it weren't stressing me so.

Thanks

Oh, I wasn't digging at you about posting about not taking sides. You have to do what makes you feel better. I was just saying you don't have to worry about me judging you, like for real. I hope you get less stressed about it :(

I didn't figure you were. Hopefully by moving over, and doing everything else associated with moving, I will feel better about LJ.
