Today, I had to go to the nearby temple, to collect some prasAdam (offering.. Think of the Hindu version of a Communion Wafer, just without the transubstantiation implications), since my uncle's busy with work. how do u wish to approach the question/s that u have asked? what r u willing to do to reach the answer/s if any? honestly why is the question of faith taken always to be central to religion? do u find that occuring anywhere in "hinduism" (wrong word to use)...the word shraddha may mean "conviction" (bad word again) born out of experience. of course if u consider religion in terms of custom, ritual, popular understanding or general behaviour - am sure u will agree that that is not the way to come to a conclusion about anything.
blind faith, miracle...these have nothing to do with religion. but one does suspect that these ideas atleast to some extent come from the "christian" way of looking at things - in specific relation what science has had to go through because of those perspectives.
finally when u say daily prayers does that mean the gayathri? cld u please tell ur understanding of it is?
finally, the God of the hindus is "existance-awareness-bliss" can u deny any of these?

Just wanted to let you know that I read this post, I am in the same boat ... i dont really believe anymore but i do not disbelieve either.
